"Reading the Activity Pipeline | From Permit to Production"

A look at how public permitting, drilling, and completion activity can signal where the industry is heading, plus the common traps that trip people up when reading that data, and how landmen can put it to work. Using different data types to walk through activity level across a few basins in informational ways, highlighting the importance of each data type, and to be aware of traps (reporting lag, name standardization, etc.).

Sean Kimiagar is the Managing Director at WellDatabase, founded in 2010 to deliver best-in-class oil and gas data across the US and Canada alongside analytical and economics tools. Sean began his career in Houston with BHP Billiton Petroleum and Halliburton before moving into investment banking, where he advised on over $2B in asset transactions. In recent years he has focused on the data and technology side of the energy industry. His work has taken him across North America, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America. A geologist by training, Sean holds a BS from the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi, an MS from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an MBA from Texas A&M University. He serves on the board of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), speaks frequently at oil and gas events around the world, and is committed to advancing talent development across the energy sector.
